Mel & Andy

Mottram Hall, Cheshire

The one thing I didn’t think we would need at Mel and Andy’s wedding was the sunscreen (but I had it anyway)! But their wedding ended up being the hottest I did all summer and it was the start of April!!

Mel contacted me shortly after she and Andy had settled on their venue, the impressive Mottram Hall, but she needed help with the rest of the planning as she was worried about how to bring everything together and for it to look the way she wanted.

Mel wanted the room they were having their wedding breakfast and party in to look softer and more romantic so with the help of a fabulous venue dresser we came up with a plan to bring in our own chairs, linen, ceiling drapes and lighting to completely transform the room. Then with the addition of stunning flowers in the spring inspired palette of greens, ivory and rose gold we created the look Mel wanted! This would be the inspiration for the stationery and all the personal details throughout the day.

Live music was an important part of the day for this couple, they had seen a band they loved and we secured them for their wedding, as it turned out one of the last weddings they would do before heading for the big time, with a record signing and radio play all on the way.

After a lovely, personal church ceremony, on arriving at Mottram Mel and Andy we keen to keep guests entertained throughout the whole day, so we had a wonderful guitarist and singer set up outside on the terrace during the drinks reception. And as it was Grand National day we had printed all the runners numbers on the back of the menus so everyone was in with a chance of winning a prize, which we announced during speeches, which was a little stressful as the race was late starting and speeches had almost finished! Whilst the evening guests arrived and guests enjoyed their comfort break accompanied by a fab saxophonist, we got to work transforming the room around for the evening, by adding a sparkly dance floor, stage and lighting for the band plus a fun selfie mirror.

Then there was nothing left to be done other than party the night away and enjoy the bonus of a warm balmy evening BBQ outside under the festoon lighting!

“The wedding day was brilliant from start to finish…thank you so much for everything you did!” Melanie Baxter
