Alex & David
Private Marquee, Lancashire
Alex was recommended to us by one of our fantastic catering friends, she was planning not one but two weddings! Her ‘real’ wedding as she called it was going to be in Italy with only 30 guests attending, but before that they needed to do the legal bit here in the UK.
This started out as just being a small celebration in a marquee at their home, with 90 of their closest friends and family, some of which wouldn’t be able to travel to Italy. But as we started to talk about the day, Alex got more excited, as she realised this was actually going to be really special and would not only celebrate them being legally married but also act as a housewarming party too. The plan was to have the ceremony and then have a simple meal afterwards, with the party ending in the early evening.
From the outset it was clear Alex (a fashion guru) was super stylish and with work taking place at her home as they got ready to move in she needed someone to interpret her ideas and make them a reality. She also wanted her guests to have fun and as we had a lot of children attending and it was Easter Sunday, we had to have an Easter Egg hunt complete with a visit from the Easter Bunny!
The ceremony took place at the stunning Ashton Memorial, a beautiful building in Lancaster. To make the most of the beautiful space at Ashton, we hired in chairs more in keeping with Alex’s vision, which were set up before guests arrived, plus added some gorgeous floral arrangements, Alex’s colour scheme was romantic and delicate colours of soft grey’s, silver and pale pink and she wanted a slightly whimsical feel to the day.
The weather certainly wasn’t on our side, but we had plenty of brollies on hand to use as guests arrived back at the house in the transport we had provided.
Once inside they were greeted with an array of delicious canapés and pink fizz and the sounds of Alex and David’s baby grand piano being played.
To compliment the whimsical feel to the day, Alex had decided on an elaborate afternoon tea ‘with a twist’, with a hint of Alice in Wonderland!
As the weather was so poor, we couldn’t do the Easter Egg hunt outside, so whilst guests were enjoying their first course, we transformed the area they had used for the drinks reception, hiding eggs, lining up baskets for the children, putting out lots of décor and finally installing the Easter Bunny complete with helper in place!
And whilst the Easter Egg hunt was aimed at the children it was interesting to see how many adults also wanted to take part and collect their chocolate egg!
This was a lovely day, filled with laughter and family, the bride and groom said they ended up looking forward to it more than their wedding in Italy!
Having Andrea planning everything really did take the strain off, and made things so much easier for my husband, he knew she was on the same page and would find the perfect suppliers, which meant he wasn't bombarded with too many suppliers to choose from, as he would say “Happy wife, happy life”. In the future I will plan to renew our vows, and celebrate our anniversaries and I know just how to make the perfect day - with Andrea’s inspiration, creativity, and drive! Thank you again Andrea for making our whole wedding experience so memorable for us and all of our guests. Alex ~ Bride
