Laura & Lee’s Woodland Wedding
13th February 2019
What a magical wedding this was! Laura and Lee live in the UAE and to live there they had to get legally married in the UK before they went but this meant they never got the ‘fancy pants’ wedding Laura had always dreamed of! So, two years later they wanted to finally realise this dream.
Laura had a really clear vision of her day, it was ethereal, romantic and completely personal. A magical Midsummer night’s dream of a wedding outdoors in a stunning woodland setting.
Our first challenge was to find the location that actually only existed in Laura’s mind. A couple of months and some very random enquiries later and the challenge was met. We had found the perfect site but now we had to transform it in to a wedding venue.
Working closely with our key suppliers we mapped out our plan and bespoke areas were created for the ceremony, drinks reception and tipis. It was key that the woodland remained a close to its natural state as possible and that no trees were touched unnecessarily. The jaw dropping setting was to be nestled within the trees as if created by magic. Quite tricky to envisage on a cold wet day in November, with no leaves on the trees!
Even though they were already married the ceremony was particularly important to Laura and Lee. We introduced them to a celebrant who could create the personal, intimate ceremony they were after, which could involve their little girl Lily (who wasn’t so keen on the kissing bit)!
Laura had spent a lot of time thinking about all the little details for the day, and the wedding was packed full of things she had lovingly made from the stationery to the sweetie station. It definitely added the personal touch.
Laura and Lee had to put a lot of faith in us to create their dream day. Firstly, with being so far away and secondly by believing that we could take an unused woodland setting and make it in to their dream wedding venue ensuring that no detail was missed.
As the site took shape in the few days leading up to their special day, the transformation was quite remarkable. The florists and production company worked endless magic to transform all the spaces.
Before we knew it things that had only before existed in our minds came to life. We had a beautiful, fairy lit avenue of trees, a stunning tree cathedral for the ceremony, meandering paths through the woods leading to the gourmet BBQ space and majestic tipis looking like they had always been part of the space for the dining and dancing.
Just a few of our highlights from this wedding included that transformation, the weather (the sun shone and we were able to do everything exactly as planned), our woodland nymphs walking down the aisle (the children all dressed with fairy wings), the super personal ceremony, the table plan hanging in the trees, the amazing rodizio bbq, the enchanting flowers with a big bold colour scheme, the fantastic lighting, the musicians who played both acoustically and as an amazing amplified band later on and just how happy the bride and groom were to finally get there fancy pants day!
“You were amazing from the first moment and we really trusted you and felt really cared for. We appreciate the enormous effort you put in to making sure we achieved our perfect day, nothing was too big or small and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. We’re going to miss you”
