If ever there was a reason to celebrate… then being happily married to your soul mate for 30 years is certainly one of them!
Clare and Dave’s 30th wedding anniversary and vow renewal ceremony was certainly one we will remember for some time. It was such a special day that everyone involved seems to have walked away with a warm fuzzy feeling inside.
The day started with a quintessentially English cream tea on the lawn at Thornton Manor, Wirral. Clare and Dave met guests as they arrived, setting the relaxed, informal tone that would run throughout the entire day.
The completely bespoke ceremony followed which had everyone in uproar as well as tears. With 3 decades of experiences to draw upon and plenty more to look forward to, the ceremony was brimming to the top with emotion.
The highlights definitely included the truly heartfelt tributes from their three children; literally, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
A relaxed drinks reception followed where guests were treated to fizz, mouth-watering canapes and a live ‘rat pack’ style singer, whilst others played games in the garden and generally enjoyed the early spring sunshine.
Clare’s sister did a sterling job of entertaining the masses with her witty and dramatic portrayal of a toastmaster; also managing to expertly coral guests to where they needed to be at the appropriate time. Her most remarkable moment though was expertly orchestrating and managing the impromptu speeches from the floor before dinner to a righteous response and applause from guests. Some truly hilarious speeches!
Dinner was a sumptuous sit-down affair in the stunningly dressed music room. The theme for the styling was based around Clare and Dave’s passion for the great outdoors, combining their English roots with their Canadian lifestyle.
There were hints and nods at their worldwide travels and their participation in a myriad of adventurous outdoor pursuits. The recreation of a typical forest floor did just that with tall trees and potted plants sprawling and creeping over logs, mosses and wood slices, it looked incredible. Hidden amongst the greenery were subtle trinkets to represent their passions for sporting activities and their travels, including mini skis, a London bus, bicycle bell and even a globe. Finding these hidden surprises certainly kept the guests intrigued and entertained.
The stationery also played a part with table names based on addresses they have lived at all over the word, luggage tag place names and a huge table plan tree in the entrance hall with hanging maple leaves to advise guests of their table allocation.
After dinner guests were treated to espresso martini and mojito cocktails accompanied by a jazz trio with the option to jump in to the elegantly decorated photo booth by Blush & Pose Photography to don hats, wigs and sunglasses and pose for a quick snapshot.
Clare and Dave met skiing and the mountains have played a particularly huge part of their life. Skiing has always been and remains a true family passion of theirs and they are now lucky enough to have a place in the Canadian mountains that they regularly retreat to. So much so that they even have a family tattoo, designed by their daughter, with 5 peaks to represent the 5 members of their family. We used this tattoo as inspiration for the cake which featured their beloved mountains, chalet and 5 skiers – their 5 family members. It was almost a shame to cut into it!
Following a rapid room transformation, the scene was set for the epic party that followed. A live 5-piece swing band and an excellent DJ kept the dance floor full all night. The dance floor flip flops were certainly appreciated! With bacon butties and cake served late in the evening we managed to keep the revellers going into the small hours.
It was a truly special day for a wonderful and remarkable couple. Here’s to the next 30 years!!!!
