Ashley & Billy

Private Marquee, Cheshire

We were recommended to this lovely couple by one of our good catering friends who, having just met with them, knew they needed some help. Ashley, an American, was only over in the UK for a few days whilst Billy had recently moved home to Nether Alderley and was helping to organise Ashley’s visa to move to the UK.

We met at the reception venue; Billy’s parents’ home, a charming old vicarage with beautiful grounds but with not quite enough space to have a one marquee big enough for both dining and partying.

Therein sparked the idea for two marquees with the opportunity for two very different looks! For dinner we opted for a traditional English country garden feel with a Californian twist (think concrete holders and succulents).

For the evening we created a luxurious party tent that wouldn’t have looked out of place in Ibiza. A huge wooden deck adorned with lush potted plants, creative, clever lighting and a completely clear marquee to take advantage of the stunning view and clear starlit night.

As the name suggests; The Old Vicarage, the church for the ceremony was right next door so no need to worry about transporting guests.  The ringing of the church bells was the caterer’s cue to pour the champagne.

Having a good understanding of what Ashley and Billy wanted really helped when planning this long-distance wedding. We were able to keep the planning moving along with regular meetings with Billy at the house as we searched for key suppliers and when Ashley was over in the UK for a week we squeezed in site visits with the florist and lighting/production company plus menu tastings, to do list reviews and finalising the musicians for the day.

We also came to understand how important Rosie, Ashley’s beloved pooch was and we found ways to incorporate her subtly into the day (such a well behaved dog).

Ashley and Billy had a lot of stress to deal with getting Ashley’s visa approved, so it was a huge relief all round once it came through and we knew when Ashley would be in the country. After all she had important hair and makeup trials to attend, plus a spicy margarita recipe to approve!

Some of our highlights from this wedding; we had the sun, we had Rosie the dog and we had great music.  A gospel choir at church and a laid back semi acoustic trio whist guests sipped on champers during the drinks reception.

We then had great speeches, with Ashley’s sister and closest American friends making us laugh and cry. Followed by some truly amazing food; loads of delicious canapés and big sharing board starter for guests to pass down the long wooden tables, Welsh lamb for main was followed by lemon posset with strict instructions from the bride for lots of popping candy!

The cocktail hour on the decking after dinner was another key moment, where Billy’s Manchester G and T went head to head with Ashley’s bespoke spicy margarita; a lot of fun was had perfecting the recipes for these.

We then ‘revealed’ the evening marquee where the DJ was ready to get the party started!  They partied hard and boy did they deserve it after such a stressful few months, this really was their happy ever after.

“Andrea was unbelievable and I cannot recommend her enough. I was living in Los Angeles and trying to plan a wedding in Cheshire, which I was not looking forward to. Especially since my now-husband didn't think we needed a planner. We met with Andrea and within five minutes, we knew there's no way we were going to have this wedding without her. She understood our vision exactly and introduced us to different vendors who perfectly fit that vision. She found us an amazing gospel choir for the church, a folk band to play during the drinks reception and an amazing florist (just to name a few). Andrea always had a to-do list handy for us, kept us on track (especially since we tend to procrastinate and were preoccupied with visa issues and moving countries), and helped wherever she possibly could.  Even though planning a wedding can be extremely overwhelming, it never felt that way with Andrea and we always knew what needed to be done and by when.As much as we planned, nothing can possibly prepare you for the day of the wedding when you get to see how everything came together.  It was all absolutely perfect and there was not a single issue (or if there was, we knew nothing about it). Simply put, Andrea and Debbie made our dream wedding a reality.  Our guests still rave months later that it is the best wedding they have ever attended and cannot thank them enough!”- Ashley and Billy
