When Two Become One

When two of the North West’s most successful independent wedding planners decided to team up, the result was nothing short of spectacular.

Fabulous Together Weddings the region’s ultimate luxury wedding planning service.

Both members of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners Andrea Swift of Fabulous Day and Debbie Rainford of Better Together Weddings had already worked together on several large scale luxury weddings. Not only did they find they shared the same ethos, the same professional values and the same sense of fun, but ultimately, the same vision - to combine their experience and expertise to offer the ultimate luxury service to their clients.

A vision that lead to here, to now, to Fabulous Together Weddings.

Why did you become a wedding planner?

After a successful career in senior management and having two children I was ready for my next challenge! I read about a wedding planner in a magazine article and I promptly set out to investigate just how I could become one. I wanted to offer a professional service and to stand out from the crowd, so I trained with and joined the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners as I thoroughly endorsed the code of ethics that all their planners had to adhere to. And the rest, as they say is history, I have now been planning beautiful weddings throughout the North West (and beyond) for over ten years and I still love it!

Why did you become a wedding planner?

I’ll try to summarise. I was married in Italy in 2008. As one half of a busy couple with little time to sort out wedding plans we employed a local wedding planner. We didn’t choose wisely and to this day my husband still recounts the tale of tying ribbons around napkins on the morning of our wedding when she didn’t show up! This was the catalyst for my new venture. I firmly believe that anyone who employs a wedding planner deserves to have a true professional who is organised, passionate, reliable, and honest.

I love hearing the guests chanting for one more song on the dance floor after a stunning band set, or catching them talking in the toilets about it being the best wedding they have ever been to! At the end we slip quietly away knowing we have helped a couple we’ve become so close to have the very best day possible!

For me, my favourite part of any wedding is always the most simple. It is the moment in the ceremony where the couple are officially married - the kiss, the love, the intimacy of it all - I feel privileged to be a part of it... I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

Whose wedding past or present would you love to have planned?

Well I am a sucker for a royal wedding, who wouldn’t love to get a peek behind the scenes! I think Kate and William’s would have been amazing to have been involved with, all the pomp, ceremony and traditions but also they are the kind of couple who know their own minds, so I think there would have been some fun in there too!

Whose wedding past or present would you love to have planned?

Without a shadow of a doubt the Beckhams!!!! I love Team DVB, hard not to really. A lavish ceremony in an Irish Castle. Opulence and surprises galore. Golden thrones and purples suits. A smattering of celebrity guests and 437 staff to help make the big day become a reality - who wouldn’t want to manage that:-)

“Quite simply we cannot recommend you highly enough.
From the very beginning it was clear that we were in the hands of an expert."

How do you relax?

I love cooking and going out for dinner with friends as well as trying as many new and exciting G&T combinations as I can find! I also enjoy travelling with my husband, teenager and my almost teenager as we visit new places on holiday. On the sensible side I like to keep fit with regular sessions at the gym to combat the hours spent at my desk (and drinking gin and eating out!).

How do you relax?

By spending time with my little girl Amelia. We play silly games, dance around the house and generally make lots of mess. We take long walks in the countryside with our dog Tess. I kill myself at the gym - then regret it when I can’t walk up the stairs without grimacing! I’m literally addicted to box sets, I love to travel - this used to be to far off exotic locations but with a 2 year old in tow theses days I’ll settle for somewhere sunny that makes a good G&T!

How would your clients describe you?

Over the years I have had some funny nicknames, the most popular being Fairy Godmother! I have also been saved in a bride’s phone as ‘Wonder Woman’, Mary Poppins is another, plus the Calm in the Storm. Most recently I was a bride’s ‘Secret Weapon’ but the one I probably like best is… friend.

How would your clients describe you?

I picked up a few of my thank you cards to answer this one; it seems I am: ‘worth my weight in gold, passionate, cheerful, diligent, professional, knowledgeable, unflappable, creative, a perfectionist, the queen of colour coded spreadsheets’, and ‘would crawl over hot coals to deliver your perfect wedding day’.
